Details

Qi gong (chee gong) is an ancient Chinese exercise that incorporates breath, meditation, and slow, gentle movements designed to revitalize one’s mind, body, and spirit.  According to traditional Chinese culture, the concept of Qi or Chi means life-force energy, breath, or prana. Gong means cultivation or mastery, therefore Qi Gong is the cultivation or mastery of your energy.  The practice of qi gong focuses on the flow of this energy or qi along the body’s channels or meridians.  When your meridian channels are open and free from energetic blockages, energy flows freely and one feels energetic, happy, and experiences overall good health.  

In traditional Chinese Medicine it is believed that when these meridian channels are blocked or if the energy flow is disturbed, dis-ease sets in.  Over time, repeated exposure to stressful situations and experiences, our qi is depleted.  The practice of Qi gong cultivates one’s qi and restores vital energy levels.  The gentle movements and breath patterns work to restore a proper flow of qi throughout the meridians, calm the mind, and to bring balance and harmony to the body, mind, and spirit.
