Pasco County Fire Rescue issued the following announcement on December 17.
Smoke alarms save lives!!! With the help from his friends, Squirt is testing his smoke alarms to ensure they are working properly and we encourage you to do the same. Check your smoke alarms monthly, when you change your clocks for daylight savings make sure to change your batteries, and many people aren't aware that smoke alarms expire after 10 years so check the manufacture date on the back of your alarms.
Before you get too busy over the holidays, please take some time to make sure your smoke alarms are working and up to date to ensure you and your family stay safe!
