Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Gus Bilirakis has recently co-authored a bill aimed at enhancing the Veteran claims and appeals process. Congressman Bilirakis, along with Chairman Mike Bost, introduced the Veterans Appeals Options Expansion Act (HR 7793) to provide Veteran claimants with more control over their appeals with the VA Board of Veterans’ Appeals.
"In recent years, I’ve seen a significant rise in constituent complaints related to the bureaucratic red tape Veterans have faced when filing claims and appeals," expressed Congressman Bilirakis. He also expressed his gratitude towards Chairman Bost and his team for their efforts in addressing these concerns and developing legislative solutions to ease the barriers Veterans encounter in accessing their entitled benefits.
Chairman Bost, who led the Appeals Modernization Act in 2017, acknowledged the importance of giving Veterans more choice and control over their appeals. He emphasized the ongoing need for improvements in ensuring timely and accurate disability compensation benefits decisions for Veterans. Chairman Bost, along with Chairwoman Stefanik and Rep. Bilirakis, is dedicated to expanding options for Veterans to receive their deserved benefits through the Veterans Appeals Options Expansion Act.
The bill aims to build upon past efforts to create a benefits system that aligns with the needs of Veterans and their families. For more information on H.R. 7793, the Veterans Appeals Options Expansion Act, interested individuals can click here. The full text of the bill can be accessed here.
