Gus Bilirakis, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 12th district since 2007, shared his thoughts and activities through several tweets on December 6 and 7, 2024. The congressman discussed various legislative matters and commemorative events with his followers.

On December 6, Bilirakis expressed enthusiasm about discussions held on Capitol Hill regarding budget cuts. He noted that he met with the DOGE DUO to address issues related to waste, fraud, and abuse in federal agencies. Bilirakis emphasized that a "new era on the Hill is taking shape" and voiced excitement about participating in these changes. "Capitol Hill was hopping w. enthusiasm today as my House colleagues & I met with the DOGE DUO to start talking budget cuts. No more waste, fraud, and abuse of the federal taxpayers in our federal agencies. A new era on the Hill is taking shape and I'm excited to be a part of it!"

Later that day, Bilirakis announced his support for the PROVE IT Act, which passed the House of Representatives. He highlighted that small businesses employ half of all Americans and are essential to the economy but have been adversely affected by stringent regulations. According to him, it's time to focus on an "America First agenda." "The PROVE IT Act passed the House w. my support. Small businesses employ 50% of all Americans and are the backbone of our economy. Yet, onerous regulations have taken a significant toll on many small businesses throughout the country. Time to restore an America First agenda!"

On December 7, Bilirakis commemorated the 83rd anniversary of Pearl Harbor's attack by honoring those who lost their lives during this historic event. He paid tribute to what he termed as "the Greatest Generation," acknowledging their remarkable contributions following the attack."Today is the 83rd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. We must remember the lives who were lost on that fateful day and celebrate the remarkable contributions to the world that those within 'the Greatest Generation' made so selflessly in response to the attack."
