Earlier this week, Speaker Johnson announced the members of the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party. This committee will be led by Chairman John Moolenaar (MI-02). U.S. Congressman Gus Bilirakis (FL-12) has been appointed to serve on this committee. Congressman Bilirakis also currently holds the position of Chairman of the Commerce Manufacturing and Trade Subcommittee.

Congressman Bilirakis expressed his views on the appointment, stating, "The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) represents the single most significant national and economic security threat of our generation." He added, "I look forward to working alongside Chairman Moolenaar and my colleagues on the Select Committee to build upon efforts to protect American interests, strengthen our national security and combat the CCP’s growing influence around the world."

The House Select Committee is tasked with assessing threats to both the economy and national security posed by China's government. It aims to propose strategies that ensure a robust future for America.
