Gus Bilirakis, a longstanding U.S. Congressman representing Florida's 12th district, recently engaged with community leaders and constituents on several key issues. Bilirakis, who succeeded his father, Michael Bilirakis, in 2007, has focused on healthcare, senior citizen advocacy, and arts in education during his tenure. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1986 and earned a JD from Stetson University in 1989.

On April 23, Bilirakis tweeted about his meeting with leaders from Premier and Langley, two local community health centers. He emphasized the significance of community health centers, which serve as critical resources for healthcare across the nation, noting that more than one in ten Americans rely on them.

The following day, April 24, he shared about conductive senior forums attended by over 800 constituents in Citrus, Hernando, and Pasco counties. During these forums, he provided a legislative update on his efforts in Washington to protect seniors and highlighted community resources available to them.

Later on the same day, Bilirakis expressed his support for arts in education through hosting his annual Congressional Art Competition for students in grades 9-12. He congratulated Kaitlyn Stires, a 12th-grade student from Hernando County, for earning the Best in Show award.

Bilirakis, currently residing in Palm Harbor, Florida, was born in Gainesville in 1963 and has represented his district since 2007, after serving in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006.
