Wednesday night training with Aeromed on aircraft emergencies

Pasco County Fire Rescue issued the following announcement on October 22.

Firefighters from Station 13 and Station 27 were up late Wednesday night training with Aeromed on aircraft emergencies.

One of the most dangerous parts of an air transport is the landing zone. From lights, wires, and even trash, it seems everything is out to get a medical helicopter on its final approach.

Last nights training simulated a vehicle striking the helicopter while crews were loading a patient. While you may think this is far fetched, this incident actually happens around the country more than we would like.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this late-night training to keep our crews safe on the ground and in the air!
