Pasco County Animal Services issued the following announcement on January 25.
Our incredible team was recognized at today’s Board of County Commissioners meeting for being named Outstanding Animal Care & Control Agency for 2021 by the National Animal Care & Control Association.
Since 2019, PCAS has saved at least 90% of the animals entering our shelter. Last year, we saw one of our most progressive movements, shifting our focus from traditional sheltering to keeping pets with their families. We are a Tier 1 Shelter with Human Animal Support Services and have developed several new programs designed to prevent pets from being surrendered.
We are still helping thousands of dogs, cats and people every year. It’s a group effort — from Field Services to Veterinary Services to Shelter Operations to Community Partnerships and Programs to Customer Service to our Administration. Throughout these departments, we have hundreds of volunteers dedicating thousands of hours to furthering our lifesaving mission. We also have hundreds of rescue groups and community advocates supporting us through it all and turning a dream into a reality.
This is a true honor and we appreciate everyone who made this award possible. Here’s to 2022!
