Teammate retires after 40 years of public service!

The year Cindy Boda began her first stint at the Pasco County Clerk and Comptroller’s Office,  Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple Computer.  M*A*S*H was one of the hottest shows on TV and Gerald Ford was President.  It was March of 1976.  Cindy was just 18 years old.  She spent 13 years at the Clerk’s Office before transferring to the Pasco Public Works Department as an accountant, and then it was on to the county’s Library System.  That’s where things got exciting.  The county was starting to grow, and Cindy was involved in the construction process of every library in the county!  There were frustrations, but many more rewards.  From there it was on to Community Development, where she worked in ridding the county of some of its derelict properties.  “When I think back, I was like, that wasn’t me.  Somebody else did that,” said Boda.  “I can’t imagine doing half of the stuff I did then, now.  I wasn’t afraid.  I took it on.  I just did it.”  But Boda wasn’t finished with her service to the People of Pasco County.  She went back to the Library Department where she oversaw the renovation of many of the buildings she witnessed being built.  She eventually retired at 53, only to go back to work for the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and then finally she came back here to the Pasco County Clerk’s Office for one final run.  In retirement, she plans on working on her home, traveling to see friends and doing some gardening.  Boda says the thing she will miss most is the close relationships she’s formed at the Clerk’s Office.  “These people.  It’s not the job, it’s the people,” said Boda.  “I’m really going to miss them.  They are lovely.”  Boda adds, in her decades of public service, she never felt like she was juggling numbers.  She was helping people.  “Life is becoming more complicated and difficult for the average citizen,” said Boda.  “And, if we can help just a little bit, it’s worth it.”
