Scam Alert

While you’re busy getting your kids ready for school, or preparing for a long day at work, scam artists are already working.  They are busy trying to figure out ways to steal your money, but perhaps even worse, your peace of mind.

This week, we learned from our friends at the Lee County Clerk of court and Comptroller, that schemers are now targeting victims saying they missed a court appearance.  Unlike past scams, this one is done via email.  The ‘artists’ craft emails in an attempt to retrieve your personal information and data forcefully, by using a computer virus attached as a zip file.  These attachments contain, what’s called a Trojan Horse virus, which becomes active as soon as the file is opened.

It’s always a good idea to use caution when opening an email, especially if you aren’t sure if it’s legitimate.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact us!  #ServeAndConnect #FlClerks #ScamAlert #PSA
