The Pasco County Corrections Center receives rave reviews from Florida Model Jail Standards (FMJS) inspectors following an annual inspection. Inspection teams spent two days auditing the facility in November 2022, noting a high level of professionalism and positive morale by team members. Inspectors also noted the cleanliness of the facility, saying the jail looked better than they remembered from previous visits.

Inspectors found the jail compliant with their standards, with no serious violations reported. The inspection report says the process was very well organized and planned and noted Pasco County Corrections staff members are very knowledgeable of their areas of responsibility.

“We work hard in upholding the rules and regulations set forth by the Florida Model Jail Standards Commission and are proud of the inspection results,” said Corrections Chief Stacey Jenkins. “I give credit to our dedicated Corrections Officers who keep our jail clean and safe – for both team members and inmates.”

Inspectors checked over the jail’s housing units, mailroom, programs area, training, armory, laundry, loading dock, maintenance area, kitchen, commissary, intake section and releasing & classification. The report indicates the entire staff showed a high level of respect and maintained a professional demeanor. Inspectors said the jail is managed in an orderly fashion and noise was at a minimum.

Jail staff also gave inspection teams a presentation on the jail expansion and renovations, expected to be finished in 2025. A thorough review of the agency policies and documentation was also conducted.

Pasco County began operating the Pasco County Corrections Center October 1, 2022. FMJS last inspected the facility in 2019. Due to the pandemic, inspectors did not visit in 2020 and 2021.
