Washington, DC - U.S. Congressman Gus Bilirakis has taken a stand on the crisis unfolding along the southern border, demanding action from the Biden Administration. In a recent speech on the House Floor, Bilirakis highlighted the steps he has taken to compel the administration to secure the border and reverse detrimental policies.

Bilirakis expressed concern over the alarming increase in illegal immigrant encounters, particularly the 331 individuals on the Terror Watch list who have entered the country since President Biden took office. He criticized President Biden's claim that he needs Congress to grant him authority over the border, asserting that the president already possesses the power to close the border by enforcing existing laws and reversing the 64 executive actions that have worsened the crisis.

"I'll continue using every single tool at my disposal, including the power or the purse, to force President Biden to enact meaningful border security reform," Bilirakis declared. He emphasized the urgency of securing the border, as any inaction leaves the nation in peril and its citizens in jeopardy.

Bilirakis also called for the impeachment of Department of Homeland Security Mayorkas and advocated for the immediate implementation of provisions from HR 2 to address the border situation effectively. These provisions include restarting the construction of the border wall, deploying technology to both the Southern and Northern borders, increasing the number of Border Patrol agents and providing bonus pay, ensuring transparency regarding illegal crossings from the Department of Homeland Security, strengthening laws to protect unaccompanied children from human trafficking, ending catch and release, putting an end to the abuse of executive immigration authority, and streamlining the asylum process.

The Congressman's plea for action comes amidst an ongoing crisis that requires immediate attention. It is crucial for the Biden Administration to heed Bilirakis's call and take the necessary steps to secure the border and protect the nation from potential threats.
