Gus Bilirakis, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 12th district, shared various updates through his social media platform. Addressing over 7,800 constituents, Bilirakis highlighted key community issues and his legislative responsibilities. Further, he commemorated Earth Day with a call to accountability for environmental and technological practices. He also took a moment to honor Holocaust victims and stress the importance of learning from history.
In a post from April 22, 2025, Bilirakis expressed gratitude to those who took part in a tele-townhall meeting. He stated, "Thank you to everyone who participated in this month's tele-townhall. Yesterday, I was joined by over 7,800 neighbors to discuss issues impacting our country and our community. Your input helps to make me a better Member of Congress!".
Reflecting on Earth Day in another post on the same date, Bilirakis emphasized environmental responsibility and innovation. He wrote, "Today is Earth Day- a wonderful reminder that we can protect our natural resources around the globe by holding the world’s most prolific polluters accountable for their behavior and still support innovative technologies which prioritize American consumers and workforce.".
The following day, April 23, 2025, he addressed Yom HaShoah, stressing remembrance and education about the Holocaust. Bilirakis posted, "On Yom HaShoah we honor the millions of lives lost in the Holocaust and vow never to let history repeat itself. It is a solemn reminder of how important it is to learn from the mistakes of the past. We acknowledge that the darkest moments in human history have come when people".
Gus Bilirakis has served since 2007, succeeding his father, Michael Bilirakis. He was born in Gainesville, Florida, in 1963 and currently lives in Palm Harbor. He holds a BA from the University of Florida and a JD from Stetson University.
