Gus Bilirakis, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida's 12th district since 2007, has taken to social media to address several pressing issues affecting his constituents and the nation. His recent tweets cover topics ranging from hurricane preparedness to veteran healthcare and the protection of essential social programs.

On May 15, 2025, Bilirakis urged Floridians to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season. "Floridians, it’s time to get ready! With hurricane season officially starting June 1st, now is the perfect time to make sure you and your loved ones are prepared." He emphasized the importance of readiness in mitigating the impact of storms.

Later that day, he highlighted concerns regarding veterans' health care needs. "ICYMI- Since Veterans, on average, have more chronic conditions than their non-Veteran counterparts," he stated. Bilirakis mentioned his support for measures aimed at preventing injuries or hospitalizations among veterans.

On May 16, 2025, Bilirakis turned his attention to Social Security and Medicare. "Millions of Americans rely on Social Security and Medicare for financial security and healthcare in their later years," he noted. He stressed the obligation to protect these programs as they serve as crucial lifelines for many citizens.

Born in Gainesville in 1963 and currently residing in Palm Harbor, Gus Bilirakis has been an advocate for his community both in Congress and previously in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006. He holds a BA from the University of Florida and a JD from Stetson University.
