On May 20, 2025, Bilirakis expressed his approval of President Trump's decision to sign the Take It Down Act into law. He stated: "I'm proud President Trump signed the Take It Down Act into law. This new law criminalizes the publication of non-consensual, sexually exploitative images—including AI-generated deepfakes—and requires platforms to remove images within 48 hours of notice." This legislation aims to protect victims by granting them rights over non-consensual imagery.
The following day, on May 21, 2025, Bilirakis highlighted a significant local event involving the renaming of a post office. He noted: "ICYMI- The Brooksville Post Office was recently renamed to honor SPC Justin Dean Coleman who was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan." Gus Bilirakis has been serving in Congress since 2007 after succeeding Michael Bilirakis. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006. Born in Gainesville, Florida in 1963 and currently residing in Palm Harbor, Bilirakis holds degrees from the University of Florida and Stetson University.
