FOIA Request to Pasco-Hernando State College Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.

As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in governmental affairs, we at the Pasco Reporter have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Pasco-Hernando State College. This request seeks detailed information concerning Chinese National students currently enrolled at the institution.

Our inquiry specifically requests documents or lists that identify all current students who are Chinese Nationals, along with their respective departments of study. In cases where student names are protected, we have asked for the total number of such students and a breakdown by department. Additionally, we seek records detailing any scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship.

Furthermore, we have requested information on any recipients of scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council. If this data overlaps with previous requests, we have asked for clarification on which scholarships meet this criterion.

Lastly, our request includes any policies or procedures that outline how the university monitors its students—particularly Chinese Nationals—to safeguard its Intellectual Property and other confidential information.

This request is made on behalf of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting transparency within governmental institutions. As members of the media, it is crucial for us to access public records to hold public institutions accountable and provide clear insights into their operations for our audience. We believe that this request will help illuminate important aspects of educational policies regarding international students and ensure that public resources are being managed responsibly.
